He loves to play with toy mice, tennis balls, small stuffed animals, and hair ties. He has the cutest little squeak of a meow, and he will jump up on my bed, and rest his front paws on my lap. He tested positive for FIV, but don’t let that deter you. Many FIV+ cats live full lives with the proper care and treatment. In the months I’ve had him, he had an upper respiratory infection for maybe a week, and then got over it, so his immune system is still working well.

 Where he came from:

Ragman arrived at a Kentucky shelter in August of 2010. When he was neutered, he tested positive for FIV. After his neuter, he waited, and waited, hoping for that special person to adopt him. March came around and the shelter began getting more and more crowded, as the infamous kitten season was creeping up. We had him transported up to us, and he has been an absolute doll.

FIV is a relatively new disease, and not much is known about it. It is similar to HIV in people, though many cats with FIV live long, healthy lives. It weakens their immune systems, making them more susceptible to illnesses, such as upper respiratory infections. Since their immune systems aren’t as strong as normal cats’, they need assistance in fighting off these infections. An FIV positive cat needs a special person, willing to make trips to the vet more often than a normal cat requires. If you would like more information on FIV, you can contact me by e-mail at nicoaa01@students.ipfw.edu and I will try to answer your questions as best I can.

$0/Waived adoption fee which includes worming and vaccinations.
