Maverick is a purebred, AKC registered Standard Poodle. He came to us from a family who loved him greatly but do to family health issues surrendered him to us to find him a loving active, devoted dog family.
He currently weighs 40 pounds and could be 65 - 70 pounds when full grown.
He came from a highly respected, responsible breeder. His color at birth was black. His coat is now lightening with a brownish cast and by the age of 2 years old he will be a blue.
Maverick neutered so breeding is not possible. He is micro-chipped and up to date on puppy vaccinations and rabies vaccination. He has been dewormed.
He is completely house and crate trained and knows how to use a doggie door. He sleeps at night in his crate, goes in willingly and is quiet until morning unless he should happen to need to go potty.
He is great with people and children. He gets very excited when meeting people and still jumps up on them. We are working on this, but continued work will need to be done.
He is excellent with other dogs and very much enjoys a doggie playmate. Maverick thinks all dogs should want to play with him regardless of age and size. He is after all a big puppy. Going to a home with an senior dog or a small dog would not be best for Maverick or the other dogs. Maverick would do best where he has a highly active playmate who shares his desire to play. Being an only dog will lead him to become board and get in trouble finding things to do he shouldn't.
He is a very active puppy who needs lots of activies to keep him busy. He will require a good size yard and daily exercise to expend his energy. A fenced yard would be ideal for Maverick as he has never been on a chain or tie out and wouldn't do well with either.
Maverick would benefit greatly from attending an obedience class to help him with basic commands, good household manners and overall socialization.
He will make someone a wonderful companion who will be dedicated and devoted to making him be the best dog he can be.
